Community engagement on r/Futurology – a Discord Server?
Even though the days of default subs are over, we’re still growing subscribers at a rate of 250,000 per year & will soon hit 13 million.
Inevitably with that size, r/futurology lacks the community atmosphere it had back in the day when there was just a few thousand of us.
That said, only a subset of that 13,000,000 would consider themselves “regulars” here, reading posts or commenting most days.
Is there anything we can do to increase the sense of community for all r/futurology subscribers and especially the regular more frequent users?
We’ve been thinking about a Discord Server – thoughts?
Regular stickied promoted discussions?
Any out of the box suggestions are welcome & they don’t have to be strictly within Reddit parameters, as Discord isn’t.
We’ll be talking to the CivilServant NGO soon on the topic of community engagement on r/Futurology, we’d love to hear any feedback or suggestions for those discussions too.
