Faro enhances construction QA/QC management software

BuildIT Construction 2021 includes concrete floor flatness analysis and simplified reporting

Faro has released BuildIT Construction 2021, the latest release of the integrated Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) management tool for real-time comparisons of CAD data and 3D scans.

New features include a new guided user interface for concrete floor flatness analysis and object-based analysis to simplify reporting to all stakeholders to allow for a ‘quick and easy’ comparison of what was built versus the original design.

According to the company, users can now verify a complete building level against the original file and un-cover, within minutes, which elements onsite were placed beyond tolerances – all while sharing this vital information with project stakeholders in real time.

Other features include a ‘comprehensive Tank Analysis Package’ that can be used to determine and identify critical issues in a plant facility that supports faster modification and renovation, a significant reduction in onsite cycle time, from laser scan projection data preparation to 3D visualisation

The raw scan import process has also been streamlined with a new feature that automatically detects targets and facilitates faster alignment with the software. There are also numerous workflow efficiency improvements, including file size reduction, faster rendering and clipping box functionality.

BuildIT Construction measures aspects such as floor flatness, levelness and wall plumbness, while also enabling ‘accurate comparisons to original design files and BIM documentation’. As-built positional changes to floors, steel beams, walls, columns, windows and doors can also be measured. While the software is integrated with Faro hardware products, it also works with non-Faro hardware.

“The performance enhancements in BuildIT 2021 Software Suite are substantial,” said Vito Marone, FARO Senior Director of Software Product Marketing. “For example, by using this significant upgrade of our BuildIT Construction software, users can complete reports in five minutes or less – a process which used to take 10 minutes or more.”
